Entry Description

This is a promotional video for Brass Impact. In an era of growing enthusiasm for school drum lines, Brass Impact combines this enthusiasm with a full pep band which supports the varsity sports events. It is an all volunteer group made up of band students from Freshman through Senior, and our goal is to boost school spirit and support our sports teams.

• 3/7 1:46 pm - Good pacing and energy overall, but needs a bit more shot variety (creative close-ups) to add interest and feature individual musicians. Some framing errors could have been corrected in post; add lower third ID for the student talking on mic.
• 3/6 3:23 pm - The shot variety is good, but the cinematography basic. Also, for the audio/interview part, there was a missing graphic for the student. The additional information was good at the end, but it is always helpful to introduce who is on camera too.

Judge 1

Positives: -Use of existing footage seemed natural. -Contended competently with existing light.

Improvements: -Camera has a tendency to be irised a hair hot in the gym. -A couple of focus issues. -the setting and depth of the narrator on camera is too bland to fit with the rest of the piece. There ought to be more separation from the background. -I couldn't tell if this was an informative piece, or intended to recruit members.

Judge 2

Positives: The pov shot of the drummer was well executed and an interesting shot, the audio was clean sounding

Improvements: I think this video would have looked a lot cleaner if the camera was mounted on a tripod, especially for the still and panning shots. the video could have been shorter and at a faster pace and still as informative

Positives: Good sound! Good editing to the beat.

Improvements: Interview could have been stylized, use of lav mic looking off camera with 3 point lighting.
