  • 4/28 5:21 am - Opens with uncomfortable eye contact with camera on first interview, eye contact with interview throughout, great color, great composition, good broll
  • 4/27 8:32 pm - This is a great "day-in-the-life" or "behind the scenes" piece that was well-produced, but didn't have the emotional elements that so many of your competitors in this category mastered. Still photo at 1:07 was difficult to understand, due to distance and angle. 1:12 - detach audio from video, or else you get the fading of audio at the end of a sound bite as the video also fades/dissolves. Don't like hand-held mics. Use lavs, or shotguns that are out-of-frame. Overall, an interesting piece that engaged me.
  • 4/9 2:44 pm - Great editing and good audio, of course. Hand held mic was great for Patrick, given his role at the school. It shows him in control. It doesn’t work as well with the teacher because it puts him on the same level as Patrick, that of a broadcaster, instead of in a supporting role. Would also like to have seen testimonial from others, maybe fellow students.
Judge 1

Positives: Good pacing, story was told well. Sound for the most part was spot on.

Improvements: Holding the mic at the start and during the on camera bites was a bit disturbing. Transition between the interviews to a "produced clip" was hard to get - consider a cut with a lower third to identify what we are watching.

Positives: The shots were nicely in focus. The audio was clear.

Improvements: Some interviews seemed a bit overexposed at times. Music could have been better, it just seems laid in rather than carefully selected.
