  • 4/27 8:50 pm - Interesting tutorial to watch. Your subject is a talented artist! Tried to utilize different shot types throughout, though shot “vlog” style. Consider what could be added to keep your viewer engaged throughout...possibly voiceover or more shot variation?
  • 3/7 10:07 am - Really nice showing viewer the finished look before beginning the demo. A v/o narration might have helped explain why certain techniques were done and more detail on the step. Perhaps rather than using fast motion, time could be compressed by skipping ahead after doing only one item (ie: tape only one eye).
  • 3/6 9:25 pm - Great work, overall. The shots and steps taken to complete the task worked well together and the subject was playful and had fun doing the task. Even though the focus was on applying make up and on the subject's face, a wide shot or two here or there would have added a bit more variety to the shot structure. The music cue was okay, but it might have been more fun to find a cue that suits the period (1950s) a bit more in terms of tone and musicality.

Positives: Interesting subject. Well covered with your camera shots.

Improvements: Needed narration. Some lighting issues. Hard to follow.

Positives: Great finish! Music was good. Tips were good.

Improvements: Some of the editing was too quick, I think you could have taken a breath before rushing to the next image. The lighting, although warm, felt a little dark at times.

Positives: The demo was very easy to follow. The text was easy to read. The thought bubble around the text was a nice touch and helped add to the fun and upbeat mood of your piece. Your shots were very well composed. The color scheme enhanced your message.

Improvements: Consider using a shallow depth of field for all of the shots. (Sharp focus of the talent and soft focus of the background) There were a number of closeups where the detail in the background wasn't distinguishable. These created an environment that was unique to the world you are creating in your video. The color of the background and the color of the talent work extremely well together. It loses some of the magic when the lockers or anything else become recognizable.
