How to Make a Dank Video Meme - ID# 25

Lyons Township
Demonstration

Entry Description

This is a real demonstration which attempts to focus on the steps involved in making dank video memes. I try to provide some context as well, for those who aren't familiar with the genre or terminology.

  • 4/27 8:56 pm - A humorous video--the vlog style worked for this piece. Thank you for being thoughtful about the context of 'video memes', as you could have easily lost your audience if this was absent. The screencast shots also helped narrate, since the nature of the demo/video had a limited amount of b-roll available.
  • 3/7 10:32 am - Nice humor and use of credits and the audio mix is good. Begins a bit abruptly and the jump cuts are jarring without being clear whether they were intended or not. Nice job overall.
  • 3/6 9:41 pm - Good work, overall and I liked that each step in your demonstration show answered the question of "why?" It gives the viewer a reason to care and grounds your project overall. A few of your camera shots were in soft focus. Audio quality was very good. Overall, well done!

Positives: Interesting examples.

Improvements: Not really a demo of anything. Missed the category.

Judge 2

Positives: I thought the creature was a fun element. The editing process itself was the clearest part of the video

Improvements: I think that you needed to have a script. This was a big topic. the editing was shaky and if it was on purpose...it needed to be clearer. Bigger editing jumps. The meme at the end could have related to the meme that was created.

Positives: Very interesting message. You explained the process of making a meme from start to completion in a simple and non-intimidating way.

Improvements: Show more completed memes. You can use them in the introduction or at the conclusion. Try to avoid jump cuts during the narration. You can use b-roll to cover up some of the cuts. You did that when you were talking about connecting memes to a specific song.
