  • 4/27 8:53 pm - A thorough demonstration was given here...nice work with the step-by-step instruction! All steps were shown, which made the demo very easy to follow...but it felt like a slow progression. Consider your pacing the impact it has on the video's overall effect.
  • 3/7 10:25 am - Nice narration and music bed. Good use of overhead shot. Nice remembering to list ingredients (maybe include equipment needed as well) Watch focus on a couple of shots and inadvertent reflections (teapot).
  • 3/6 9:32 pm - Thorough demonstration with good step-by-step shots throughout. Everything was thoroughly explained and shown. Work on your audio mix overall. I thought your voice over could have been louder and more resonant. Also, your music cue was too low to add much in terms of mood or tone to the show. Your graphic listing your ingredients was good, but it fell outside of title safe zones, meaning that on a TV screen there is a good chance that your text would not be entirely visible to your audience.

Positives: Nice use of graphics with ingredients. Good shots while process is going on.

Improvements: Some of the early mixing was blocked by hands.

Positives: The graphics for timing the bake were very good. The setting also worked well to tell how to bake chocolate chip cookies. I liked the use of the ice cream scooper....great tip!

Improvements: Baking is precise. To tell the novice that here are a "few" ingredients is misleading. When you set the oven to 350 degrees the time on the clock was 3:54 and the light was brighter...this was confusing to the audience.

Positives: The demonstration is very easy to follow. The ingredient list is very effective as well and is an excellent graphic to use at the start of the video. The pacing and choice of camera angles are correct.

Improvements: The shot of vanilla extract was out of focus. Just reshoot when things like that happen. Use a tripod to steady the camera. Avoid handheld camera work. When moving the camera make sure any motions are very smooth. Try to minimize stray clumps of ingredients that collect on the interior of the bowls. Try to show off the kitchen. There are a couple of shots toward the end that show the stove and the cabinets. These help to set the tone of your piece. But they come at the end. Consider using shots like these in the introduction as well as the conclusion.
