  • 3/15 3:08 pm - Great original graphics. Great use of photos, phone interview and video. Great composition. Beautiful color correction, look. Audio a few abrupt changes but overall levels good. Story interesting and clear. Really liked it.
  • 3/7 11:38 am - You captured the location of your subject well, but outside audiences didn't know where this story took place. The transitions are rough. Work on flowing from point in your story to the next. This piece ends abruptly. Ultimately this story left me with unanswered questions.
  • 3/1 3:53 pm - Good story. I wish there could have been more natural sound of him drawing or something that breaks up the talking. The nat sound pop at the start does a good job grabbing the attention of the viewer. Overall good story, watch to make sure shots are in focus and not so shaky.

Positives: I like that you started with nats full of the sewing machine to help setup the story. I like that you had photos of him at a young age to show some background. I like the close up shots of him drawing. It was nice to see from paper to reality with the clothing.

Improvements: There is a flash frame at 1:12 I could not read the graphics at the beginning. I couldn't hear the phone interview starting at 1:04. The audio was too low. I would not have covered that with the empty interview set. It would have been fine to cover it with broll of the subject of the video. The story was not clear at all. Is the "Woo Bosco Show" the name of his clothing line? I'm not sure how his clothes relate to rappers. Is he also a musician or does he design for musicians? Was there a meaning behind the clock in the interview set? It just seemed like a misplaced prop. The only nats was the sewing machine. You could have tried to get nats of the pencil on paper or just him walking down the street. Always try to have some natural sound even behind straight broll. Real life isn't silent. I'm not sure this topic was the best choice for nats/pkg. It would have worked better with a reporter track.

Positives: I like the fact that visually and subject wise this is totally different from what we usually see in school videos. I like the funky graphics which tie into the whole piece. I like how the interviews were shot…loose with colorful backgrounds that tied into the funky feel of the piece. I learned about someone I did not know about.

Improvements: Sound edits could be smoother. The audio levels on the "voice of" bite could be better. The ending feels up cut…abrupt. The closing shot is not as strong as the opening shot. Would have been nice to see him or someone else wearing his clothes.

Positives: There were many interesting angles in the piece that made it visually compelling. Some interviews were non-conventionally framed and I liked that. I liked the used of older photos. The opening shot was perfect.

Improvements: There was no clear story here. I didn't get a sense of who this designer really was. I needed to see more of the clothes on someone. Have him wear them and talk about them. Also, the open is more documentary format, not newscast.
