Entry Description

"To Build a Home" is a PSA about urbanization. It strongly appeals to the audience's emotions through statistics and somber cinematography. Our goal for this PSA is to acknowledge that slums are prevalent in today's society and "building a home" can help strengthen them for those in need a proper housing.

  • 4/27 12:19 pm - Excellent lighting on the headshots. Music choice was perfect. It could be a little more informational. The last 45 seconds offer no new information. The text at the beginning of the video works well and should be consistent throughout.
  • 3/1 11:24 am - Loved the music for this. Thought it was really powerful and impactful. Loved how the portrait shots were overlapped. Voice over needed to be more clear at the end.
  • 2/27 8:32 pm - The portrait shots here are beautiful, but there could have been more variety in shots. Images of "slums", living conditions, etc. Also, some shots or idea of the positive impact that UNHABITAT has on the community it works with to show the good work it does. The music matched beautifully, but it overpowered the voice over at the start and the end.

Positives: Head shots looked nice

Improvements: Lighting was a bit too dark. Felt more like a music video than a psa

Judge 2

Positives: Faces on black background brought the audience eyes straight to the talents. Who all had great appropriately concerned faces looking back at us. Music was good - slightly too much - the picture did not crescendo like the music.

Improvements: It's hard for just a face looking into a lens cannot sustain a whole spot - even as nice as the faces you chose. This could be a shorter PSA more easily. Slum footage needed? Hopeful graphics with flares of light?
