Entry Description

We made this commercial for our favorite record shop in the area, Purple Dog Records. We went in on a saturday and knocked out filming quickly. The owners were very helpful and patient with us.

Judge 1

Positives: 1. Nice opening shot and storytelling - easy to understand what Purple Dog Records is all about 2. Nice pace - between the visual & the music everything matches and is upbeat

Improvements: 1. Might have been nice to include a shot of an employee or owner since Purple Dog Records seems like a small business, personalize it. 2. A VO tag line on top of the last shot would have locked in the viewer - your adding an additional sense and therefor making a deeper memory of the viewer.

Positives: Great pace to edit - well timed with music. Love the track - it's classic and helps convey that you're advertising an old school record store. Great close up of the record needle.

Improvements: The story is lacking a bit - you can glean that it's a cool old record shop with what looks like a good selection, but not much else. There is a scene that crosses over CD's that is so fast you can't see any of them. Better to go a bit slower.
