  • 4/14 2:08 pm - Positives: I'm very impressed by your work--an enjoyable watch. You have a good understanding of constructing a reel--the editing a shot choice is impeccable. Drone shots are impressive. My favorite shots are the elevator shot--love the symmetry--reminds me of a Wes Anderson film-- and the sequence of the two kids dancing which transitions to the nutcrackers--amazing energy and composition. Improvements: The font choice for "cinematography reel 2017" does not seem to fit with the "softness" of the piece. I would change. I know that's picky--but with a near perfect piece you must be!
  • 3/6 10:09 am - really great pacing, tracking panning and use of light. Great choices when it comes to the time of day for shooting.

  • 3/3 3:02 pm - What I like best about your work is your framing both static and in motion. The elevator shot’s symmetry invokes an ominous feeling. The aerial of the runners through the forest add tension. The steadicam at 1:19 makes me feel I’m in the moment of the dance. The running follow shot at 1:23 with its blurs and quickly crossing streetlamps makes me feel like I too am racing time. In short, your shots invoke feeling, and that is powerful. Least favorite shots are the aerials of the city and the town. It’s not that the image qualities were poor. It’s that they simply relied on the awe invoked by super high angled shots. The aerial shot of the crews, however, did work for me. You naturally capture the awe from the high angle, but you also are shooting during the golden hour, and our eyes are drawn to the movement of the crews scuttling across the water--there’s a story there that isn’t present in the others.
  • 2/28 4:51 pm - Really nice combination of shots and great job intercutting the drone, GoPro and DSLR to keep the looks fresh, while still matching the visual progression. The song awkwardly ends in the end, but the build up showcasing a wide variety of shots worked really well. Great blend of perspectives and use of light.
