3/7 1:05 pm - The visuals of the chessboard are quite impressive. The opening of this trailer hooks us in. Unfortunately, after that the plot is not clear. We never see the father and we do not understand the relationship between the father and son. This would benefit by having the narration continue throughout the entire trailer AND show us more of the story.
3/5 10:06 pm - The camera work involving the chess board was well composed and shot. Some of the transitions, such as the graded tests being handed out were well done as well. The voice over sounded good and had elements of good writing. The story was too vague overall. I have no real sense about what this movie is about. The man vs. self conflict is clear, and it's most likely a coming of age tale, but where is the conflict in the trailer? It needs to be stronger for it to be a trailer. You need to hook your audience with something. Don't just tell me through voice over. Show me! The music needed to be a more dynamic choice and the trailer should have built up in pace to some sort of cliffhanger...even if it is a more straight forward drama.
