4/27 6:53 am - Overall, a good commercial. There was one issue I had with the audio from :20-:26 - we still hear the sound of the barbell being lifted, but don’t see anyone lifting one. If that was Foley audio, make sure it fits with what we are seeing on the screen.
3/6 7:33 pm - I like the idea of the commercial, but I think that this could be helped by editing it down to 30 seconds. There key to commercials is to make the move fast, and keep the viewer engaged. The gardening one had good sound to it, but it could have cut to the head phone shot faster. Also, there seems to be some of the clinking of the weights going on even though he is not lifting them, just remove the audio. One thing I might do for each of them is show how if they put these on they work faster, or lift more, or do better in school with them on. Try to engage the viewer and sell your product.
3/5 6:21 am - I liked the concept often you don’t need a complex story to make a great video. I think there are two things holding this video back. One is the pace your video moves at, each of your three scenes is too long, it takes to long to get to your point, which leads me to the second area that would help your video is your camera shots – they are all these wide cover shots, you are missing close ups. It is hard to edit a bunch of wide shots together – continuity errors creep in, and as a result the action just moves slower, it is harder to get to your point, and your audience doesn’t always know what to look at. Plus wide shots take the power away from you, and rely more on your talent to tell the story. So take the power back and shoot more close ups and you will find it will actually be easier to edit. Little details also like making the music come on when the gardener puts on the head phones will draw your audiences in, you were better with it with the weightlifter and the library girl.
