This is a 3 minute excerpt of the beginning of the second quarter of a live broadcast Basketball game between Riverside Brookfield Bulldogs and the ACC Knights. The RB Bulldogs in this matchup are trying to overcome their long stretch of losses, but start to show a spark in this second quarter of action and make a light at the end of the tunnel for their long season.
Positives: Graphics are very good. Play by play/color announcers work very well together.
Improvements: Avoid overcutting, especially during quick floor movement. Stay wide and let it play out. Ambient sound a little low in mix, overall audio a bit muddy. Replay
Positives: Great audio quality... sounded very professional. Pretty decent play by play as well. Generally, the camera work was good.
Improvements: While camera work was good, there were a few odd cuts during the broadcast.
Positives: For the most part, I like that the Director was able to say on the wide shot at times where I know it gets easy to switch just to switch. Most productions at this level do not have as many camera to choose from, so switching because you have been on the wide shot too long is not always the answer. Good job.
Improvements: For the talent, early on it seemed they were forcing too many side stories in during the break in action. Also, since it is not radio, you don't need to spell out every pass--especially if you are just going to say their uniform number. You need to state their name. For example, "Number 10 Kyle Cerzak hits the 3" should have just been a slight pause (find the name) and then state who hit the 3. Also, I heard "that was a brick" and "gotta make that" as analysis. The color person has to be careful here, since more than likely, the players on the court have more skill than the announcer. Instead of "brick" you can say "not close" and instead of "gotta make that" you can say something like "that was a good look he likely would want back".
