Volleyball versus Bradley
Positives: the use of graphic for transition to replay, great use of hero cam, camera operation was great overall
Improvements: color announcer needs more involvement, better coordination with play-by-play. shot sequences during non-play, better plan of who/what/how to cover
Positives: I felt your audio was excellent and video quality was decent. It seemed the gym could be lit better, but I know that is out of scope. Play by play was very good. I like that you kept the score graphic simple and didn't try to get carried away with it. It was easy to read and well-placed. Really liked the Viking transition graphic for cutting to and away for replays. I'm very familiar with that gym... HF class of '83!
Improvements: Not a whole lot to point out there. I did start to wonder what was going on when we stayed in a close shot of one HF player with nothing happening to find out a bit later that the ball had gone in the hallway. Perhaps cutting to a wider shot that might show what is going on would help.
Positives: Overall, I thought the play-by-play call was done well. He was clear and concise and seemed to have a good overall sense of what was going on and not to over-communicate what the viewer could already see. Good use of anecdotal information about his sister's playing previously in the program. There was a time when the announcer mentioned the coach and the Director/Camera was able to find her quickly for a good cutaway. The replay system that is available was done well and added a lot to the broadcast.
Improvements: There was a notable hiss in the audio the entire time, as well as the overall mix being a bit low. I thought the play-by-play guy had a terrific voice and did well, but he needs to let his color analyst in to describe what went on. That being said, there were breaks in the action where there was time for the color analyst to jump in, and for whatever reason she did not. A big too many switches, especially with a good replay system. Do not be afraid to sit on the wide shot for longer periods and use the other look(s) from replay.
