  • 3/6 7:55 pm - Nice opening graphics! Poor audio by the anchors- sounds distant. Make sure they are mic-ed at all times. Nice segment about people being beautiful- maybe don't have to have the reporter say the same line to everyone- after we hear it once, you can play a few reactions in a row before we need to hear it again. Will make it less repetitive. Great idea for a feel good story!! Everyone who speaks on the show should have anameplate so we know who they are- especially those interviewed in segments. Holiday lights was a great idea- but keep the music going! Keep t festive and upbeat with the music, just turn the volume down! Also- try to avoid panning shots- focus on ONE thing and then show it for awhile, then cut to a new shot. Panning shots are tought to focus in one what's trying to be shown. Show has some potential- work on audio and making sure EVERYONE is mic-ed up, and include some news the anchors can actually say as well.
  • 3/3 12:30 pm - Overall, a good show. Lots of energy from the first anchor. Whenever possible, I would suggest professional dress for everyone on-air...especially the anchors. What are you using to capture audio at the anchor desk. It sounds like it may be recorded by a camera mic or an overhead mic that's a little to far away. If it's creeping into the shot, tighten your shot a little more and bring the mic closer. The show was pretty clean regarding transitions and technology. Really enjoyed the "Beautiful" segment. I would suggest that after the first couple of people, we don't need to hear the set up statement. Let's just see the reactions, one of the other. What was the takeaway for the reporter after working on this piece? Audio just cuts off at end. Good intro to reptile/amphibian club nat pack. In all cases...identify your subjects. Start to work on including lower thirds to identify all subjects. Christmas lights segment was interesting too...sound quality (tone) is an issue here too...sounds thin. What are you using to capture sound? The camera internal mic?
  • 2/25 6:26 pm - First story: Needs to have some type of ending to it. What did Cassidy learn from putting this video together? What did folks who watched this video think about it? The transition from the end of this video to the anchor back at the desk was awkward because there was no "conclusion" to the story. Reptile Club: Good variety of interviews. However some of the interviews could be replaced by VOs from the reporter. I could also see many places where a reporter could do a stand up. Who are these people who are interviewed? They need lower-thirds with name and title to identify who they are and their relationship to the story. Great b-roll in this story! Holiday Lights: Who was the owner of the house? Again, needs to have a lower-third to identify him. Sound byte with the owner was long. How could you trim that down and have the reporter summarize a lot of what was said in order to tell a more concise story? Love that you had a large variety of b-roll for this story! Try to reduce the number of pans in your b-roll. Overall, not a bad show. Technically, it was very clean. Would have loved to hear more of the storytelling from the reporters. The b-roll in this entire show was very strong. But those stories also lend themselves to a lot of very good b-roll.

Positives: I really liked the video of students being told they're beautiful. The reactions were so genuine and heartwarming Your newscast had lots of fun packages. Nicely done

Improvements: I really liked your newscast. I would've just shortened the nats on the christmas piece. They lasted too long at the end.

Positives: Sharp graphics and montage from the start. (could be a little tighter). Camera work and editing was very good.

Improvements: slight improvement in energy from student anchors. Audio from anchors sounds like its from a nat microphone. Hard to hear.
