BHS-TV is our school's student produced newscast featuring segments on school and community events, clubs, sports, and a variety of other topics.

- 2/27 2:42 pm - The intro for this program really does a great job of setting up the expected tone of the program; you guys look like a fun and dynamic group. Active shooter story was really well done. The reporter for that segment speaks very well on camera and the sound bites chosen supported the overall story very well. Great job capturing the serious elements of the training with video and audio. Main anchors did well, but I feel like they need to keep working on becoming more natural at that news desk-- possibly take some of the energy and fun from your news program intro and take that with on set. Both were well-spoken and did the job, just allow for some of that personality to come out! Diversity PSA was well-done; everyone in the student body should be able to connect with it. The last talent on set, Grace, has a really natural and personable presence on camera. She had some good energy and her pace with delivering the information was great.
Judge 1
Positives: The layout of the program is done well - the throws from the anchors to the taped pieces were very informational. I liked the information in the pieces - great job covering the shooting drill - good use of interviews and really nice work getting a variety of perspectives and broll shots. The girl who hosted the "in the know" has great energy and was fun to watch - which is great because that segment seems like a huge list that has the potential to be a little boring.
Improvements: The hosts need to work on being a little more loose. They seemed like they were very dependent on prompter. I'd recommend maybe giving them a prop (like how Matt Lauer always has a computer or paper or a pen in front of him) and interact a little more naturally. I'm not sure if it's a conscious decision, but I feel like the camera was always shooting up, into faces vs straight on - seemed a little unnatural. The music transitions back into the studio (coming out of pieces) was jarring. All in all - great job!

Positives: Packages were nicely produced Nice job changing all the graphics for the story that included all the upcoming events
Improvements: The video for the active shooter drill was really good. I might have just written a little bit more to what we were seeing. I know anchoring is scary, I would just work on your delivery a little bit and feeling comfortable with each other.
