  • 4/14 1:35 pm - Positives: I really enjoyed the shot in the car wash--what a cool effect with the bubbles coming into frame. The blue color for this shot was also very nice. You also did a great job editing to the beat and having a nice flow to your piece. Improvements: There are a lot of shots from the perspective of inside of a car--this was repetitive and does not give you much shot variety as a cinematographer. Also some of shots are shaky--I would encourage you to use some type of small shoulder mount to help create smoother shots. Lastly, the song, which I love, is very emotional, however, I do not see any shots of people--adding close ups of people's faces would have added shot variety and emotion to this piece.
  • 3/3 2:54 pm - My favorite shot here is the car wash. The blue of the shot contrasts sharply with the hues of the majority of the footage. Couple that with the abstract quality of the image and the incoming suds, these additional elements create lots of visual interest. Be aware of the limitations of your camera and plan for shots better. For instance, some shots that were desired to be stable, were posted with a warp stabilization that made the images look jello-ie in the background. Here, if you want a shot to be stable, anticipate the look and use mechanical stabilization of some sort. In the night shots, there is a lot of image noise. Here, plan for the challenges of low light. Use a faster lens, shoot at a lower aperture, or use a camera with better low light performance. If these aren’t options, find brighter areas to shoot, or least optimally, explore third party noise reduction programs.
  • 2/28 4:23 pm - Fun, eclectic group of shots. Not knowing what comes next can work with really nice steady shots, but when they shaky, poorly stabalized or overexposed then it's really challenging for the viewer to engage. Shooting all candid "found footage" limits your ability to showcase your understanding of how you use light in your lens to compose and tell well told visual stories.
