  • 4/28 5:22 am - Great concept, love the idea, beautiful color, great composition, would’ve liked to see tripod work for classroom broll, love how the ending ties it all together
  • 4/27 8:48 pm - Unsure if this was about the school, the teachers, the elementary kids or the high school kids. A brief but explanatory reporter's V/O near the top would have helped. The essential story was a good one. It just needed to be better pre-produced before powering-up the camera. And the shots moved too quickly, too often.
  • 4/9 2:49 pm - Nicely shot and edited. Everything comes together so well at the end. Fast motion in intro and Drama/Art class worked well. Lake Bluff Baseball scene could have been better connected to a specific teacher. It was good to cut back and forth among the High School speakers, but in this one instance, that made it a bit unclear.

Positives: This was so lovely! It made me think about every one of my wonderful elementary school teachers. This is such a wonderful concept to explore, and you did it very well. It was so creative to have the older students “be the voice” for this piece in the form of letters to younger students. It worked so well the way you interwove their letter reading and the b-roll of the teachers and younger students in the classroom. Structurally, it was just wonderful! I was shedding some tears at the end, for sure.

Improvements: The only thing I missed from this piece was some more from the teachers themselves. I don’t mean that I think you needed to interview the teachers… but just give us a few more scenes where we can see/hear the teachers doing what they do best. Stop and let us see how the teachers speak to their students in a few standalone scenes (at full volume without letter-reading audio) so we can fall even more in love with them as we watch them teach.
