  • 4/27 9:09 pm - You have some engaging shots of the ingredients and had effective movement, but, I didn’t necessarily understand the Chicago theme/music choice. Though there was decent shot variety, some of the camera choices made more sense than others.
  • 3/7 11:09 am - Nice title sequence (intro who you are) and finished food shots. Good job remembering to list both ingredients and equipment needed. Nice use of rack focus and overhead shot. Consider an apron with show name on it and a 'tease' of next time on the show...
  • 3/7 10:38 am - Very solid show, overall. Your story took us through the process of making the desert in a very thorough manner. The quality of your voice over was excellent and your shots were all well composed and lit. In terms of making your story a bit more complete, try adding in some additional context as to why someone might want to make this desert. I realize you have this at the end, but you also might want to add it in the beginning. Give the viewer a reason to watch and explain how cookies and pudding combine to make such a tasty treat. Also, I did like your opening/closing title sequence, but the images of Chicago were found and not shot by you. This is not something that should be in the cut according to MMEA festival rules.

Positives: Good topic. Well narrated.

Improvements: Hard to see the results of your 2 mixings.

Positives: I got a sense of place.I like that it was a show "sweet home Chicago" and you were making a sweet dessert. The music was just right for the demo. The demo was clear .

Improvements: Bigger bowl for the mix. Take a bite at the end. The pacing could have been a bit slower.

Positives: You had a very nice variety of camera angles and you tried some interesting things with the camera, like rack focus and the use of extreme closeups. You were aware of the lighting and color. That helped to make your project more effective.

Improvements: In a video like this where you are using a lot of closeups it is very important to keep the camera on a tripod and not use handheld footage. The extra motion from the handheld footage fought against your demo. Watch some of the editing. The majority of it was very effective. But the were a couple of things that were too short. For example, at about :31 there is a great shot where you have a number of items pleasingly displayed. After you rack focus so the entire layout is visible just hold on that for another second. Just as you reveal your work area you cut away to the two boxes of cookies before your audience will be able to appreciate the attractive layout you have created.
