  • 3/3 2:20 pm - Tracking shots on bike were a little bumpy. Shots lacked in variety- some of the shots were really long and could have used more angles and creativity in the setup. One running shot had everyone standing still until the director yelled go and started filming. There was a lot of running. Almost too much. Had a creepy feel to it, but it could have been developed a little more. Not sure where the story was going- difficult to understand, as it really had no obvious point to it. The story ended, but is the story over? Nice use of black and white to color, and good attempt at trying to track a bike ride.
  • 2/28 12:14 pm - Interesting concept for a music video. One suggestion would be to have the person appear at a different location every time the song says "Is there anybody out there?" Also possibly use a first person perspective from the girl on the bike and some distortion on the video when the mysterious girl appears. I was kind of confused as a viewer when it went from observer, to the mysterious girl perspective to the perspective behind the the mysterious girl. The tunnel shot is very powerful. Unique music video.

Positives: Exposure. Balanced, graded effectively. There was a high contrast, slightly under exposed look that lent an effective amount of spookiness to the piece. Location. Well chosen wooded location. It also lent an intriguing level of spookiness to the piece. There was a natural suspense built by these two elements that added a good amount of value to the piece. It's not easy to build suspense without words or overwrought music, but you succeeded.

Improvements: Steadicam. At times it worked well. Specifically with respect to the bike tracking shots. During the chase/running portion of the video it looked very strange to be swinging the steadicam rig back and forth. It was too smooth to lend the immediacy and hurried look of handheld and not shaky enough to feel the surge of adrenaline and terror. Also, it swung sharply at random moments giving an unnatural feel to the footage that served to frustrate me as the viewer more than heighten and enhance my experience. Editing/story. It's unclear who the girl is and/or why she's walking into the woods and then biking into the woods. It's also unclear who the forest beings following her are. Additionally, for a short video our protagonist spends a lot of time running and we only see her from behind. A variation of shots, from the side, from in front, from up high, through the trees, whatever, would have been nice and would've lent a higher quality to the piece and added a level of production value that was lacking.
