  • 3/23 11:08 am - Solid opening, choppy cut to anchors / Anchor lighting is dark- feels “gloomy”, film noir—need more backlighting / Music teacher story reporter’s mic is too high, almost covering mouth—get a tripod!! Shots are gratuitously shaky / Beautifully lit interview shot of teachers- would ne nice to have some nat sound in addition to the music track—beautiful mini-doc / Singer story—need to “show” not “tell”—it’s revealing when he sings- changes everything completely—powerful story in the end / Model UN- needs more nat sound. Great shooting! / Excellent job all around
  • 2/27 2:58 pm - Main intro seems to be driven by sports, but most of the stories in the program itself aren't sports related? Anchors are really good, fantastic delivery, good inflection with voices and natural and their pace is outstanding; nice professional feel with those two. You guys put a lot of content into 10 minutes and the feature stories (retiring band teacher and singer) are a nice way to break up the quicker pace of "regular" news. All in all I thought everything was well-done here.. again, loved the pace-- fast, but too fast. Good job!

Positives: I loved the opening - lots of exciting footage to draw in viewers - but the transition music was abrupt. Great job covering the interviews about the band director - good use of footage and photos. Loved the music choice - it set the mood. In the piece about the jazz singer, I loved that opening shot, but I thought it was going to go somewhere else - it seemed like a meaningful shot, and then you cut to the interview...seemed a little abrupt. In general, you guys do a great job of covering interviews with footage, etc. I really enjoyed the variety of stories - great job with human interest, informational, etc. The studio felt a little dark - and when you do the one shot of each anchor, I'd have them facing the other direction, so it's a smooth transition from the two shot, to the one.

Improvements: The music over the initial announcements was sleepy and felt like it didn't fit. The Duca Dynasty - the subjects were slouchy in their chairs - make sure you're taking a look at the shot before you start the interview.

Positives: Enjoyed the opening montage. Establishes energy and presence. Spencer has tremendous mannerisms and could work in Market 150 right now.

Improvements: Lighting is very good, but the set background is dark, makes for an awkward two-shot. Carefully with music audio underlaying the soundbytes. Too high.
