  • 3/6 7:29 am - Nice blend of interviews and b-roll and talk show participants. Shots are well framed. I like the roaming camera in the talk show set, but be careful not to overuse it. The set for the talk show portion could use a bit more light on the set to differentiate the participants, who are all wearing black and blending in. Good use of music. Impressive!
  • 3/1 1:23 pm - Great intro and creative opening shot. Talent is very well read and passionate about the subject. B Roll was well shot and edited. There needed to be transitions between sound bites for better story telling

Positives: I like the concept - it's cool to highlight people around you that are doing interesting things. I appreciate that the hosts are all very professional looking - but where are the women? I like that you interviewed the coach - I would think of other people to include - also when something happens like Sarah mentioning her parents, it's always a good idea to cover it with a photo of them at a match, etc for context.

Improvements: The studio seemed really dark. I think the opening music should fade out and then come back in to transition to the first story - it was playing too long in the opening and was distracting. The montage about Sarah (to open the story) was too long. Sarah's interview needed to be more produced - the mic should have been under her shirt - also, the camera was looking up at her, which isn't a great angle. Also, just for the future, but you'll always want to make sure that the subjects are aware of what they'll look like on camera. Her floppy sweatshirt and disheveled look would be problematic for some interviewees. The hosts seemed a little stilted - don't be afraid to go off script and loosen up!

Positives: -Package Intro is strong. Method is excellent. -Great use of B-roll for cover and transition. Transition from studio to package is strong, aided by well-transitioned audio. -Solid game footage. -Framing on player interview aids the feel of the package. -Package mix levels are appropriate. Tempo and style of the package are stylistically sufficient to cover lack of linear story.

Improvements: Player interview: -sloppy mic and wire -high-pitch tone underneath audio -Room to stop down aperture. -player needs direction on posture, shifting gaze, delivery Coach interview: -frame out ceiling in order to stop up and get the viewer's focus on the face. -No discernable backlight on the guy that opens the show. In package open, flip-flop 'sets played' and 'digs' stats.
