- 4/28 5:15 am - Good opener, great backdrops to interviews, weird to have someone do voice-overs, to then have Emma do the narration – becomes confusing, zoom in slightly tighter with interview of brother, why low angle interview from left side of Emma to high angle interview form right side, second interview of Emma framed poorly, answers sounded scripted, third interview of Emma with eye contact is very uncomfortable, tripod use with b-roll is lacking
- 4/27 7:35 pm - Reporter should be seated also to avoid her awkwardly looking up during every interview sound bite. Add "Brother &" to his text ID, since there was no V/O to formally intro him as her brother. Light the first two subjects softer, since this is a "soft" feature story, not a hard news story. We started with a male narrator, then switch at 0:48 to female narrator. Awkward. Okay, now it sounds like the main subject is speaking. But she is reading from a written script - which makes her sound like a second narrator. Confusing. Whether it's strapping on skates, using street shoes, or putting the camera on a sled - we need some shots from the ice. And need at least one shot where the camera is behind the net and a goal is scored. Putting a wireless on her would also help make us feel like we're there. 2:44 - the 180-degree line was crossed. Why? Clean shooting, clean audio, clean editing. A technically-sound piece.
- 4/9 3:12 pm - Interesting subject. Good interview shots, b-roll and pictures. Because her part seems more scripted than responses to questions, Emma acts as a second narrator, which is a bit confusing. Emma's comments about working hard to please her brother would have been a good lead in to her brother's interview.
