  • 3/21 2:22 pm - Pros - Strong concept! The mystery in the trailer definitely leaves the viewer intrigued by where story goes. The effects are a nice touch - subtle enough to show the audience that something is wrong, but don't rub it in your face. The performance by the lead is very strong and the locations are a strength as well. The muted, darker color correction supports the tone of the story. The drone composite at the end was a great choice to close the trailer. Cons - The opening shot in the bathroom feels empty, mostly due to the sound design. This is fine for an opening shot in a film, but a trailer needs to grab the viewer's attention as soon as possible. The production title immediately after also needs work, which delays the first truly compelling moment til the 0:12 mark. The dialogue has a nice sonic quality except for the scene in the classroom - the teacher character's audio is too hollow, which accentuates the unconvincing, rushed feeling from the scene as a whole. This scene stands out in a negative way because the rest of the trailer is very strong. I found the story intriguing, however, a large audience might wish they had a little more to go on in order to decide if they would want to see the film - just something to think about.
  • 3/8 9:13 am - I like your use of audio and video effects. Especially that split screen with the beautiful view! I agree with the comment about in your use of dialog. It would have been nice to hear a little more story sooner and maybe break up the dialog for the beginning and the end leaving the av effects to speak in the middle.
  • 2/28 1:20 pm - Cool effects. They really add to the suspense of the trailer. I think the dialogue should've started sooner in the trailer so that the audience connected the dots between the "simulation" and what was happening.
Judge 1

Positives: The usage of special effects, filters, and the jump to different shots. Especially like the music and coding aspect.

Improvements: Maybe go more with the code errors rather than the color-shift filter. Also, make sure music doesn't just cut at the end, but rather fade.

Judge 2

Positives: Excellent premise and visual style. Everything from the lighting/look to the graphic design was well-realized. I loved the imagery of the character being filmed on a television screen.

Improvements: The end of the trailer is a bit abrupt, even with an excellent final shot.
