  • 3/22 10:17 am - Pros - The opening 3 shots of this trailer remind me of the film "American Beauty" which helped to draw me in. The graphics work was very nice and aided in explaining the condition, which was done very well. The overall camera work was very strong with good compositions and color correction. This was definitely the strongest element of the trailer. Cons - I feel the trailer fell short in the telling of the story. The conflict was introduced very early on and then went straight to what felt like a resolution. We never got how the conflict affected the protagonist and why he worked toward his resolution, which appears to be told near the end when he goes into what he wants out of life. The shot overlooking the highway was a bit flat and underexposed, making it feel out of place with the rest of the footage. The sound design was strong overall, but felt a bit empty at the end - in addition to the music track and VO, would interesting to subtly hear the live track as well, in class, hanging with friends, skateboarding, etc.
  • 3/9 12:13 pm - Awesome use of graphics. You did a great job explaining the condition. I agree with the other comments where this feels more like a short film than it does a trailer... we need something else to make us want to watch the film. Drone shots were fantastic- great choice using the foggy weather.
  • 3/8 9:27 am - I like your use of shots and graphics. The drone shots are beautiful giving us a great perspective. Watch for the jitters and jerks in those shots. Last, you want to tease the audience in seeing your film. I feel like I watched your film. Find a way to edit this down to get your viewer to say, 'I want to see that film.'

Positives: The editing and angles mixed things up. I like the twist/man topic with the loss of hearing but make that pop.

Improvements: This really isn't a trailer, but rather a simplified version of a longer story. You have to hint at the main plot, introduce snippets of the characters, and make the viewer want more.

Positives: Wonderful use of silence, blended with VO narrative. Visual style and drone shots set the tone of the trailer quite well.

Improvements: Though the subject matter and message is inspiring, I had a little trouble following the narrative arc. If this is a short narrative film, we need to hear about an 'inciting incident' in the VO – something that motivates that character to begin a journey. What is the character trying to achieve when coping with his hearing loss?
