Inside the making of a LIVE event.
Positives: Great topic! Very cool to see a live broadcasting truck at a high school. I like how the story line progressed showing setup to the actual broadcasting during the game. Good use of video to highlight all aspects and roles of the broadcast.
Improvements: I liked that you opened the piece with nats but I would tighten that up. Unless it's amazing nat sound, 3 seconds of beeping bus would have been perfect. I would cut out the nats break from:28-:30. It feels like dead air, because you don't hear anything. I would add some nat breaks of the sideline reporter or the play by play/color commentators. The microphone placement on all the interviews was sloppy. They should know to place the mics under their shirts and on their collars.
Positives: Interesting story...having your own video truck is pretty cool. Good bites, though the first bite, Luke, is a little unclear at the top. Someone should have asked him to slow down a tad and repeat the bite.
Improvements: Having your own video tv truck is a pretty cool thing, so we should see more of it and the behind the scenes activity involving the truck. When Kenneth Powell talks about the mixers and the sound boards we should see broll of people, including Kenneth doing sound. The behind the scenes video needs to drive this story and it doesn't. The gray background for the interviews looks flat and lifeless. It lacks dimension and energy. Kenneth's microphone is placed in a sloppy manner. Audio mix could be better.
