  • 4/26 12:38 pm - This trailer is very short, but does a lot in that time span to tease a love story (or redemption/vengeance of that love?) during what appears to be a zombie-infested environment. The camera work is the strongest aesthetic working to support the story and create the surrealistic backdrop. The color shifting in post is story motivated, which is much appreciated and effective for separating the present from a memory. The title at the end is great and leaves the viewer with enough closure to the trailer yet not enough information to feel like they don't have to see the film, which can happen far too often. Overall, outstanding work. Suggestions for strengthening an already strong trailer: figure out a way to connect the audience more with you protagonist. Try to answer the question, "Why should we care about him/her in the first place?"

Judge 1

Positives: Liked the different shots, use of blood, and angles. Also, the change in music, which matches the tone/theme of the trailer.

Improvements: Not really sure what the story is about. Maybe add 30 more seconds to build the suspense and character. Felt more like a day-dream sequence than a trailer.

Judge 2

Positives: The contrast between pleasant imagery/memory and violence/reality is well executed and feels distinct – excellent! This has a sort of Terrence Malick aesthetic that works brilliantly with a post apocalyptic narrative. Well-realized camerawork and visual storytelling, along with a very effective soundtrack. I like that there is no dialogue used.

Improvements: Try shooting 23.98 or 24 fps to help achieve a slightly more cinematic aesthetic.
