Girls gymnastics has always been one of the less acknowledged sports at Mundelein High School. This video was created to help promote a little bit about the gymnastics team, who they are, and what they do.

  • 4/6 3:47 pm - The variety of b-roll used for this story was fantastic - so many different types of shots really helped to keep focus on the story. Work on getting a few more tighter shots too. The part that needs some tweaking is the audio - was very hard to hear the girls being interviewed because the background audio was too loud. Mic up the girls, use a boom mic - something other than the mic on the camera so that what they are saying truly stands out from the background noise.

  • 3/12 11:25 am - Where is the microphone when interviewing the girls? You cannot use a camera microphone. Drowned out by the background noise and natural sound/audio.
  • 2/28 11:51 am - Good job recognizing the gymnastics team. The background audio for the interviews takes away from what they are saying. Varying your shots and slowing down some of the flips and jumps would add to the video. Overall good job.

Positives: Sound - presence is pretty consistent. Audio is clean and clear. Editing - Standups and b-roll intercut nicely. 1-shots are not up too long; It doesn't wait for the comment to land before cutting away.

Improvements: Sound - some interview voices are mixed too low versus the music. Lighting - Some of the interviews are shot in environments with terrible lighting, and the subjects don't appear to be "brought out" with additional lighting. Editing - At least one shot has combing edges in fast movement. If this was shot with an incompatible codec or encoded wrong, don't use it.
