  • 3/13 11:06 am - Great opening shot. Funny shots in the bowling alley. A little more light there would have helped. Good party scene that helped your production value. Characters had great energy and excitement on camera. They cared about being there. The bowling match gave us something to follow throughout the video. Good pacing, you kept giving your viewer something new to look at. Cool idea of having the band in the Jeep, that was fun. I know you have certain restrictions when using a drone, but maybe choose a more interesting or meaningful location for these sequences.
  • 3/6 2:59 pm - The video is shot extremely well. Great camera movement, with use of the drone and a pretty steady gimble or jib. Nice work with that. The video "looks" like a professionally shot video- it is very well color graded, uses slo motion at times for effect, and encorporates a variety of shots and camera angles to tell the story. Not sure if that story neccessarily follows the lyrics, but that's ok. Story is funny, but acted out well and uses great setup shots and close ups as cutaways. Band does a nice job of "playing" the song- just make sure your singer follows the intensity of the actual singer- that way there's no question if he's really "singing" or not. Video is well done.

Positives: 1. First off...this song was great. That band has a lot of talent for such a young age. Keep collaborating with them and experimenting, bc you both have creative talents. 2. This video was a lot of fun. It reminds me of a Weezer video by Spike Jones or Mark Romanek. There is not necessarily a story line, its more a montage of fun vignettes of being youthful, but there is a theme to that which gives the piece cohesion. The visuals were fun and memorable. 3. The color palette of the piece was really nice. It had a muted pastel palette to it. The color palette matched the organic visuals. I also liked you how incorporated the title at the beginning into the world of the piece - small art direction choices like that really help tie the whole piece together.

Improvements: 1. It would have been neat to see if there was a way that you could have incorporated the vignettes a little more. Even though I liked your visuals, if you can incorporate a small story line or some type of pay off at the end it then really elevates the piece and makes it more exciting for the audience. 2. The bowling alley scene was a little dark. I was taken out of that scene just a bit since it was underexposed. I understand that some locations have limitations, but i'm surprised it wasn't brighter in that location. It almost looked like the lights were off.

Positives: This video is fun to watch and held my attention the whole time. Well done! You established a style (color grading, camera work, performance) off the top and it set the stage for the shenanigans that followed. You've got an excellent assortment of locations and shots that keep the pace flowing. The drone added a lot of value.

Improvements: Some of the camera moves were bumpy/jittery. This can be solved by cutting a few frames sooner to avoid those spots. There's an awkward cut off the first shot where the camera begins to push in again and then we cut out of that scene entirely. It felt like we were about to see something else in the classroom. Cutting before that final push in can save that moment because it's a very well executed opening sequence otherwise. There are moments where the slow motion lip-sync is off. It takes me out of the piece as a viewer. It's very difficult to execute slow motion lip-sync but playback on set can help to correct issues like that going forward.
