- 3/11 9:23 pm - perhaps some text of the address and the website would help
- 3/11 9:22 pm - music works very well as does the intro shots of the store as we know immediately what commercial is going to be about..B roll is excellent and so is the owners audio as i can clearly understand all that is being said
- 3/9 12:16 pm - A nice simple commercial that highlights not the tea, but the business and its brand. Try and stay consistent in your shutter speed. It seems to too fast in a few scenes that make for a choppy look that takes away from the overall cinematic look. When performing a camera movement (tilt, pan, etc) not using a tripod to accomplish those takes away from the cinematic experience and can come across as sloppy. Interview looks fantastic as does most of the footage. Sound is good, crown noise is not too loud during interview. Overall edit includes many shots that highlight what the business offers in a variety of compositional and cinematic ways.
- 3/5 2:55 pm - Strengths:
-Get a good idea of what the space looks like
-Interview with the owner!
-Good information about how to contact them fb, instagram, etc.
-Good topic and story. You get a lot of information across in a short amount of time.
-Nice music choice--works with the piece
Room for Improvement:
-Overall effective cinematography. A few shaky shots, could benefit from using a tripod or some sort of stabilizer
-Would have been nice to see an exterior shot of the store
-"The only town that I know" is not a great reason to set up a store there--I would cut this
Judge 1
Positives: 1. I like the storytelling - starting with visuals then the interview then jumping back and forth between. Nicely told.
2. Good editing - i like the variety of still images and motion throughout the film.
Improvements: 1. The interview sounded a bit distant, would have liked her to be mic'd.
2. The End tag would have been nice to have matching VO with it.
Judge 2
Positives: Clear ad with well spoken spokesperson.
Well shot, conveys the charm of the space.
Improvements: I'd be more interested in types of teas they have, than when they started business - something to drive more appetite appeal.
Overall approach is a little basic - could be more interesting.
Judge 3
Positives: nice moving camera shots.
good composition on the interview
good color balance overall--little more contrast in the interview shots to match?
good music choice--fits the feel of the piece for sure
Improvements: needs voiceover earlier...
don't need the Lower 3rd for the owner the second time
show the website when she talks about it.
Final screen---needs to be more readable? Not as scripty/flowery on the important information
