- 3/11 9:40 pm - Great Information...I liked the t-shirt logo as it made me focus on what the commercial was going to be about...the narration/interview was excellent and I knew excatly what services were being provided...good B Roll and mix of that and interview, nice job
- 3/9 12:17 pm - I think it’s always important to start off with an establishing shot of a “brick and mortar” storefront. Show the audience where the business is located first. Sound was a good mix and sonically the interview was great. A tripod would have gone along way in this commercial to help the shots look more cinematic. I can imagine it difficult to get shots that are pleasing in a shop, but they do exist. Locate of create moments that are more aesthetically pleasing to the eye for commercials. All shots are properly exposed and frame rate makes sense. Editing has a good mix of “talking head” and scenery.
- 3/7 10:19 am - Strengths:
-Very informational. From an advertising standpoint I feel like the viewer finds out a lot of important information in a short amount of time
-Camera composition for the interview shot is appropriate
-Nice lower third
-Variety of content seen in b-roll
Room for Improvement:
-It would have been nice to open with an establishing shot of the autobody shop
-Is the interviewee supposed to be looking straight into the lens or off to the left of the frame (which is used for a standard documentary)? He seems unsure of where to look. As a producer you need to tell him where to look for the interview.
-Camerawork is all shaky. You need a TRIPOD. Take a tripod next time and get some nice pans and tilts.
Judge 1
Positives: 1. Great camera angles, really liked the perspectives you chose.
2. Great mix of VO storytelling + docu + VO storytelling. It made the commercial interesting and engaging as if he was talking directly to the consumer.
Improvements: 1. I would have liked to see an establishing shot of the business so the customer would recognize the business as they drive down the street.
2. I would have liked to see the end tag logo on the open space next to the owner's face as he's reading off the address and hours. Visual & VO matches and further driving home the contact information of the business.

Positives: Clear promo for this business - I understand the point, and the copy also includes a differentiator, which is good.
Edit flows well.
Improvements: The ad is a little basic - a little more creativity might help with memorability of the spot.
Ad could be improved with a little more B-roll and less on camera time for spokesperson.

Positives: music feels right
interview shot is well composed--nice!
i really liked your Lower3rd treatment for your subject
good shots of the garage/workers
Improvements: when he talks about the different models they service, you should show them (not a VW when he's talking about a Porsche)
Whenever you're able and have b-roll, you should clean up the delivery of your subject. Get rid of the "uhs" or "ums" and just tighten up his message under the b-roll
Needed an opening line "here at NorthShore Motorworks..." or something
Longer on end screen
:40 is an awkward commercial time--get to :45 or :60 or trim to :30
