  • 3/3 9:59 am - Story: This is probably the strength of the trailer. It’s just a fun idea. I’m not sure that you develop it as much as you could, and I’m not sure that all your shots do enough to advance the story, but the premise is clear and effective as a campy horror flick. My critique is that the first 40 seconds or so feels like filler. The V.O. tells us everything we need to know, and the shots don’t really reveal anything interesting until we finally see the Pez dispensers. Camera: I like your first shot at the locker, it’s probably my favorite even though it really doesn’t have much to do with the story. The Pez dispenser FX is, of course, cheesey but fun. I like the shot of the kid walking across the snowy field to the giant Pez. If you could get it in higher resolution and polish up the photoshopping, it would be even better. Lighting: Seems like you had to rely on available light, and given that, your shots are okay. Sound: Solid here. Your levels are generally adjusted well. Music tracks are appropriate. Fades are fairly smooth. No real red flags here. Editing: All of this is fine but not exactly highly polished. The pacing is pretty good. The shot of them running through the door screaming “They’re coming!” is super brief. I’m not a huge fan of your title cards. Seems kind of arbitrary. Solid job, but keep working at it. Final thoughts: Fun idea. Keep it up.
