This is a commercial that I shot and edited for the Toyota Corolla. I made this commercial for my college portfolio.

  • 3/11 9:26 pm - Great pacing and great voice over..you alternate well between interior and exterior and use the natural audio of engine reving (although I'm not sure the corolla is known for power), Feels like a real commercial that I would watch on TV or yioutube...good job
  • 3/9 12:16 pm - Looks and feels very much like a commercial. It does a great job of selling both the car and the brand. I like the use of natural sound and music in the piece and the overall mix was spot on. Fantastic cinematic work on this. It looks like something out of the show “Car and Driver”. I appreciate the shots of the car while in motion. That takes a ton of skill and equipment to pull of well. Don’t be afraid to get some more movement of the stationary car to highlight some of the interior. The edit had flow and did not seem rushed one bit. The first 10 sec edit was interesting and grabbed my attention as well. Kiddos to the talent for the VO as well. Sounded polished and professional.
  • 3/7 4:43 pm - You matched the style of a car commercial well, however I would have loved to see a little more interior shots other than the few at the beginning. Otherwise great job One thing I could not get past though was the license plate on front it was a huge distraction and what kept me from being able to see it as a real commercial.
  • 3/6 10:59 am - Strengths: -It's evident that this was modeled off of an actual car commercial-which is great! -VO was effective. Informational and professional sounding. -Music works -Pans are smooth, camerawork is effective. Nice work! Room for Improvement: -The font for "2017 Toyota Corolla" seems to be very generic. Pick something more unique.
Judge 1

Positives: 1. Great product shots of the car, as good running footage commercial 2. Good editing, the visuals matched the VO nicely.

Improvements: 1. I would have liked to see more interior shots, maybe an example of the Lane Departure Alert. 2. The sound seemed a bit off, almost a bit distant.

Judge 2

Positives: Very effective copy and clear message overall. Nice ad! Nice variety of camera angles.

Improvements: It would help the edit to have something a little more "see and say" when you come to the parts about "steer assist" and "safe and comfortable" in the script. You chose a challenging subject to light - automotive shooting is a very specialized area. Room to grow here but kudos for the effort.

Positives: all the moving shots were steady--hard to do when tracking a moving vehicle! beauty close ups at the beginning were nice--colored well voice over was solid. Music was ok but coulda come up a bit to match the intensity of the VO Final screen graphic well placed

Improvements: :27 I wouldn't have put the "Toyota Corolla" graphic on screen--at that point, you just go with the "Toyota--Let's Go Places" screen to the end. Sound effects of the car starting at the beginning...that sounded like a race car engine, not a toyota corolla... Coloring on the outside shots of the car were not consistent. When talking about the headlights...a close up. When talking about lane assist, showing the icon on the side mirror or something. Shots were very generic. I woulda covered the license plate for the beauty shots at the beginning. Don't wanna advertise that type of info.
