• 4/25 9:52 am - Great color and composition to your broll. Solid audio throughout interviews. Good framing of interviews. Nice music selection. Good audio edit with volume levels coming in and out of interviews and into broll. Maybe a little bit more stabilization on some of your broll shots but I understand why you were trying to go with those shots.
• 3/12 9:17 pm - One of the early b-roll shots was blurry and unfocused. There was a flash frame right before first bite. Nice tight shots of the equipment during the first bite. I do like the pacing of this story. I think the bites work well together. This story falls victim to the narration only at the start and end trap. Typical news storied have the reporters narration helping the flow through the whole piece. I will say I think this is a well told story, but I am biased as I think what we all do is pretty amazing.
• 3/2 10:39 am - Begin with a more interesting shot - studio or wide shot of something, then go to closer shots; variety of shots - a lot of close-ups though, so it's hard to get a sense of what's going on and the shots seem all over the place; rack focus is nice, but don't overdo it; don't use music unless it's live as part of the story; Teacher gives good information that goes deeper into the program, so it's not a commercial to join.

Judge 1

Positives: Interesting story and very well to hold. Good visuals and nice editing.

Improvements: Package needed more of an introduction to what we were about to see. Also it needed some description within the package of what was going on. Audience unfamiliar would've been lost.

Positives: Love the music LOVE the broll and the visual style of the piece. the variety of shots, the rack focus, really fantastic! great use of interviews to drive the story

Improvements: The first line was good but you may have made it a little more conversational to catch your audience immediately

Judge 3

Positives: Nice way to start the piece with different shots. This piece is really well shot and well edited. Lots of different, creative shots at different angles. Good use of video over your soundbites.

Improvements: Off the top talking about the stuff you don’t see – coming in hours early to set up - -should have shot that and used that as broll. I’m not a huge fan of music under for the whole time – especially if it means nats are lacking – would have liked nats on the students as they did their work and interacted.
