  • 4/12 2:48 pm - Great editing on well chosen music to accent your shots with the slowed frame rate. The composition, use of light/magic hour and purposeful movement stood out. Great variety of shots and locations left the audience wanting more.
  • 3/31 4:15 pm - Camera: -LOVE LOVE LOVE the football shots. Beautiful image quality and you did a good job of capturing the emotion of the players and the mood at the game itself -Showed diverse range of camera shots, compositions, angles, and movements. Lighting: -Most of your shots used natural lighting or used the lighting that was already present in the space. Have some fun with lighting! This is an important part of being a cinematographer. Editing: -I found the pacing to be appropriate and shots were on the screen for the right amount of time. I do think the shot order could be rearranged a bit, so some of your best shots hit at parts of the song at different points to better emphasize their beauty. -I think this is a good song choice for a reel. This song is also used in the "West World" season 2 trailer--you should check it out if you haven't already!
  • 2/28 5:37 pm - I appreciate the composition and awareness of the depth of field. I love the fact that your camera movements are smooth and deliberate, so when there are hand held shots - they stand out as a choice rather than default. I would love see you play with lighting design. That such a big part of cinematography.

Positives: Good composition on shots. Good editing.

Improvements: Better lighting would help. Add a back light to subjects to give separation.

Positives: -Some pretty crazy color grades in here! It's very interesting. -Some nice detail work in here. I really like the shot of the bird and the shot of the helmet.

Improvements: -There are times where I feel like we linger on a shot just a beat too long and the frames sort of fall out of focus. Not focus focus, but subject focus. For example, I'd cut that awkward pan from that great shot of the bird in the beginning. Don't reveal that quick pan, because it just feels like a mistake. -The hair salon is pretty dark. I know that's probably just how it is, but then the color grade makes it even darker. That looks like it was maybe for a commercial? When shooting something like that, think about what the light and tone of the image tells us about a product/brand. I'd imagine a hair salon would want to be bright and welcoming. Just consider those things when you go into a space, be prepared to mess around with the lighting.

Positives: I really liked the way you edited the video to the music. I only noticed one cut that seemed way off. I liked the way you cut to black every once in a while.

Improvements: I think some of the drone shots were a bit on the dark side.
