3/10 12:21 pm - Story: This is heartfelt and easy to follow. I do think, however, that it’s a bit broad or overly-ambitious for a 5-minute short. For this to truly work, we, the viewer, have to be invested in the characters and their relationships. It’s just a lot to accomplish in this short format.
Camera: Solid work overall but lacking a degree of polish. You have some focus issues, some panning back and forth that might be better if you cut between shots and reversals.
Lighting: Looks like you used available light for the most part. No real red flags, but some shots seem a bit washed out. The white balance between home and school is a bit shocking.
Sound: Essentially good work here. Levels sound pretty good. Appropriate music tracks used effectively. V.O. works pretty well.
Editing: Solid work here as well.
Final Thoughts: Good fundamentals, and I applaud the effort to tell a meaningful story. It’s not completely successful, but there’s a lot more good than bad here.
