  • 4/12 2:46 pm - Great story to your reel. The variety of shots to the edit worked really well continuing with a theme that burst into color. The stable shots were very good, the movement wasn’t always clean and often rippled with stabilization, otherwise a very strong compilation of work.
  • 3/31 5:30 pm - Camera: -You've made some really creative choices with your shots that I really appreciate! -Some camera movements are shaky. Even when the camera is sitting in the grass for one shot it is shaky, you at the very least can set it on top of a book in the grass so you have a stable shot. Lighting: -Most of your shots used natural lighting or used the lighting that was already present in the space. Have some fun with lighting! Show off your understanding of lighting techniques. Editing: -I like that you have established a theme to your piece at the beginning, but then the first images we see (the tattoo artist) do not make me think of the suburbs at all.

Positives: The adding color concept was good. Good editing.

Improvements: Too many moving wide shots. I would like to see more close ups to help with the story telling. The video cuts out at the end.

Positives: -I liked your use of black and white and color. And your transition for going between the two. -The macro shots of the flowers were very pretty.

Improvements: -I don't know if that's the frame I would use to put text over in the beginning. I'd change it to this out of focus shot of the cars or the raindrops on the window. Give us a background that feels intentional, provides a tone, but then also doesn't interfere with the text. -I'd try to diversify in your work a little in the upcoming year. Put together some narrative projects with characters; film some faces. You can capture what nature has provided with your camera, but you really grow as a cinematographer when you're creating and crafting your own scenes/images from your imagination.

Positives: I enjoyed the black and white part of the video and loved the transition from black and white to color. Good timing on that.

Improvements: Some of your shots would have been better had you used a tripod. Also when doing a pan, such as the pan on the houses, don't go so fast.
