  • 4/25 10:04 am - Good use of nat sound but I would’ve loved to heard the chainsaw. Not sure why a produced by lower-third/graphic appears thirty seconds into the story. Enjoyed a little of the historical importance.
  • 3/12 9:10 pm - Big missed opportunity for a nat sound open of the chainsaw cutting the ice. The reporter track doesn't grab me much. I really like the first soundbite, was the best one, and the b-roll on top of the interview was exactly what should be there. Some shots were pretty dark and others didn't really have anything to do with what the people were saying. The woman talks about the meaning of the sculpture but we are seeing random wallpaper video. The story became more about what Hanukkah is, and less about this sculpture end event. I want to see more torching of the sculpture. Seems like you had a lot of nat sound and didn't use it except for underneath the narration.
  • 3/2 10:35 am - Good b-roll to start and done well throughout; interview of Alta done well with nice background; even though it's dark, video is easy to see; variety of shots used; meaning of the sculpture mentioned and goes deeper into the topic; sound bites are a bit long; could have interviewed more than one person.

Positives: Very interesting topic. Well written script and good job by the on-air talent.

Improvements: Lighting was an issue with many of the shots in this package. Being taped outside at night makes it very difficult but it did need some artificial light added in order for the audience to see what was in each individual shot. A bit more history on these religious ceremonies would've been nice.

Positives: Nice human interest story highlight a community event! Great shots of the creation of the ice sculpture and nice night work :)

Improvements: I would have loved to hear from a few different people to develop a few perspectives of the event

Positives: Nice use of nats off the top – could have taken another beat on the sawing noise before bringing in track. Nice use of nats under track. Liked the menorah in the background – could have still shown that but shot the interview slightly tighter.

Improvements: Track says the event had music singing activities and food – show me all that… or at least some of it… some singing and food? Some broll was sat on too long, and was too dark, and then other, stronger shots were used too quickly.
