- 3/4 12:31 pm - Story: I think this aspect was pretty effective. I don’t totally get the plot of the film, but I feel like I get the idea of it. Seems like a quirky indie comedy- maybe in the vein of Napoleon Dynamite or The Office or something like that. At any rate, it worked for me. I have to say, with your casting, I get more of a sweet lesbian love story than adoption story, but that’s probably just a reality of high school filmmaking.
Camera: Honestly, your camera work isn’t amazing, but I feel like it suits your genre. Your handheld stuff is a little shaky. You have some shots that should be on a tripod. But it kind of fits with the style of the film. You clearly know how to film a scene- the one where they’re eating Ramen, for example- and it all cuts together well.
Lighting: No huge notes here. Did you shoot the eating Ramen scene with a blue gel? If so, kind of cool. Seemed like most of your stuff was with available light, and it all looked fine to me.
Sound: Your sound is pretty great. Great tracks, and you use them well. I love the way you cut out for comedic effect after “You should be my mother.” And then you use the silence to introduce the next track. Slick stuff.
Editing: Nothing big to say here, but that’s sometimes the hallmark of good editing. You’ve got a cool, quirky, indie, comedic style, and it works well for me.
Final thoughts: Not sure if this is going to win you accolades, but I think you’ve got a future in this. Keep at it.

Positives: The music was a good choice and overall feel of the video. Really liked how the tone changed, along with the music and acting.
Improvements: Kind of confusing plot even with a trailer format. Also, maybe a few more characters. Also, try to keep the music levels more consistent.
Judge 2
Positives: Unique and eccentric. Sets a clear comedic tone, and uses grounded performances and an energetic moving camera in service of a whimsical trailer.
Improvements: Could use a little color correction, and fine-tuning with the audio mix to bring out the dialogue.
