Entry Description

This school promotion project displays what goes on at Eisenhower and what it is all about. It involves sports, pep assemblies, and events including the annual prom fashion show and musical play cast. This is a variety of exciting things that Eisenhower HS has to offer.

  • 4/6 3:52 pm - Good variety of video for this piece. Consider starting the video out by having the camera go thru the front doors of the school to establish where you’re at. If someone hasn’t been at your school before, they wouldn’t know where this was or what school until maybe the end. The front of a school is always very identifiable by the community - start with going thru those doors. The section where you use the pictures - make sure everything is consistent - the length of the pictures on the screen as well as the length of black in between.
  • 3/12 1:40 pm - Would this video benefit from the use of natural sound of your video from the different events? Not saying it's needed, but curious as to what it would sound like if it was there. Would it add to the video or take away from it?
  • 3/12 1:39 pm - Good selection of music.
  • 3/12 1:39 pm - Edit to the "hit points" of the music. Cut on the beat of the song.
Judge 1

Positives: Camera - Shots are exposed well. Editing - Cut with the beat. This is surprisingly often neglected.

Improvements: Story - The travel shots through the halls: The empty halls felt... empty. Like a missed opportunity for substance. The feel of the school seems very active, otherwise. Feels like that shot would be more congruent with the piece if the halls had people in them. Editing - the photos with black between: the claps on the beat linger. The shots come in a, variously, the front and back of the clap.

Positives: Good length, quick and to the point. Nice editing to the soundtrack.

Improvements: too many hallway shots, could have been used once. Would have like to have seen more variety of activities, too heavy on sports. Could have used a stronger open and close
