Partners relationship is but to the test in this nail biting thriller

4/2 12:01 pm - too much exposition, adults played by students, lighting was ok, but inconsistent, too quiet (could barely hear it at full volume), acting wasn't great, not terribly shot but not particularly well shot either
3/10 1:36 pm - Story: I have to admit, I didn’t completely follow the story. I’m sure I could watch it again and piece it together a bit better, but I don’t really want to. My bigger note is that it’s told largely through exposition, which is pretty boring compared to visual storytelling. They have a fairly long dialogue in the office where a lot of information and backstory are revealed. Maybe you could use pops of flashback or something to take us there and then show us what happened instead of just telling us.
Camera: Solid work but little in the way of creativity. This would be a successful assignment demonstrating that you know how to properly shoot and edit a two-person scene. But it feels a little plodding and basic as a film.
Lighting: Solid work here. There are a couple location changes where the white balance is a bit abrupt, but overall, this is well lit.
Sound: Your opening bird chirps are deafening. The opening line of dialogue is loud too, but then I can barely hear the dialogue where the new colleague is introduced. There’s one scene where the room tone is out of whack. A track of ambient room tone would go a long way to smooth that out.
Editing: Generally good work. The very end feels quite abrupt.
Final Thoughts: Some good work here. Keep at it.
