Luis Torres is an honor roll student and a 4-sport athlete. Not only does he play four sports, but also he plays football and soccer in the same season, going all-state in both.

Your sound and interviews were great, though we could work on framing them a bit to make sure you’re following the Rule of Thirds. Moving forward, just make sure you have steady voice-overs for the Intro and Conclusion so as not to come off like you’re reading anything from a script. You have a nice pace and have demonstrated a real understanding of the news package format, keep working you’ll continue to produce some great content. Nice job!

Positives: Very interesting topic and covered very well in the package. Well written. Followed along very easily. Good job.
Improvements: Audio levels needed to be consistent throughout the package. Some were too low and some were too high. There were a few lighting issues as well. Hard to see the reporter and some of the interviews.

Positives: Great human interest story. loved hearing Luis' inspirational story! nice use of broll!
Improvements: Loved the information in your script -- i would pratice on the energy and inflection of the read! I would love to hear music to help set the tone of the piece! There are a few spots that i can hear some edits that could be smoothed out. the best advice i got when i was starting off is to listen to the aroll with your eyes closed- it helps you catch those spots!

Positives: Four-box off the top was creative, showing the different sports he plays. Needed nats! Nice to hear from several of his teammates.
Improvements: Track is hard to understand – couldn’t figure out a few words in first sentence -- need to work on having a clear track with zero stumbles. There were two stumbles in the piece -- always need to retrack anything that doesn't sound perfect. Nats were sorely missed throughout this piece -- especially with sporting events. Should hear nats underneath your track. Audio issues and framing issues with your Torres interview (also standup) -- there was an audio hiss. Needed to be reshot. Consider your background as well -- would have been great to see him in a more interesting spot – locker room? To the side of a field while play is behind him? After practice? A black background is nice for serious interviews on somber topics, but this could have used something more fun. Those you interview should not hold the mic or look into the camera -- reporter should hold the mic and interviewee should be looking at the reporter.
