  • 3/22 10:05 am - Pros - The piano track throughout the trailer was a great choice, it sets the mood, creates a foreboding feeling that is punctuated by the closeup of the bloody face at the end. Nice closing title. The strongest part of this trailer is definitely the camera and lighting. Almost all of the shots are very well composed. The lighting when playing the piano is wonderful and helps enhance the emotion of the scene in a strong way. Cons - The story suffers in this trailer. I think, overall it is too short because the first 0:20 starts to build an interesting conflict, but then cuts to this bloody faced closeup of a character who is unrelated to anything else we see. A trailer, by no means, has to answer questions, but does need to give enough information for the viewer to decide if they are interested in the feature film. This trailer has a nice setup but falls short on the follow through. The dialogue track needs work - there is no presence track, making your cuts very noticable with too much interference. The best example of this comes at 0:12.
  • 3/9 12:08 pm - Love the lighting- it really brings the horror theme together. Great job. I would see this.
  • 3/8 9:22 am - The color value and light in your trailer is brilliant. It made me feel cold, chilly, and creepy. This is nicely put together.

Positives: The music really set the mood, which made it clear it was a scary movie. Also liked the acting and shots in different locations.

Improvements: Needs to be a little longer with a few more hints at the storyline. I was confused by the random person with blood. A main character? Plot twist?

Judge 2

Positives: The lighting and color correction works well and sets a specific, eerie tone. Good juxtaposition between soothing piano background accompaniment and haunting visuals.

Improvements: The narrative is a bit unclear – we know that this young woman has become obsessed with a piano/playing some sort of cursed piano, but there is no visual element that clues us into that narrative. Everything is revealed in exposition by dialogue. While creepy, it needs some work on the visual storytelling to connect the dots.
