Nice timing with the music cue and the blood drop in the water. I also like how you intensify the action when you introduce the second piece of music. This helps to ratchet up the suspense for what this story is about without giving too much away in the story line. The dangerous thing about this type of story is that there isn’t a lot to learn about with the characters or the plot. That said, will this encourage people to take a $15 dollar risk on a movie that they’re not certain what its about? I’m not sure, and that’s not a good thing, since you need that cash to make back your millions of dollars as a production company. I think this worked for The Shining, simply because it was a Stephen King novel with a big named actor and a bigger named director. Their names afford them the ability to be avante garde because they have established credibility. Last thing. Your second bit of music is assaulting. Lower it a bit. It’s high compression makes its overall volume had to bear, and I don’t have my speakers loud at all.
  • 3/4 4:58 pm - Story: This needs work in my opinion. I didn’t get much other than this is some sort of horror flick. Camera: Some good work, but it’s uneven. I like the opening on the candle and especially the shot of the light fixture in the entryway. But the exterior of the house is overexposed and the shot of the guy running up the stairs is out of focus. The drop of blood in the glass is cool but all of the basement stuff is dark. It makes it seem like sometimes you got lucky and sometimes you didn’t. Lighting: See above. Sound: I found your music tracks super loud, especially in the second half of the trailer. Editing: Some good work, but a bit rough around the edges. Final thoughts: You show promise, but a lot of this feels half baked. I’d love to see what you can do when you really sweat the details.
