  • 4/19 9:59 am - Nice flow to the steady shots that helped the viewer take in the variety of places and contexts you showed. More balanced lighting would have helped, which is hard to come by naturally during the winter, but using your aperture would really help give more depth of field. The hand held shots didn't help your otherwise tranquil mood of your reel.
  • 3/31 5:01 pm - Camera: - I truly enjoyed the different types of compositions I saw in this piece! -There are a few camera movements that are jerky--watch out for that. I can't tell if you are trying to zoom in a little or if the auto focus is adjusting. Lighting: -All shots are using natural light--I would like to see you play more with lights and show your understanding of lighting techniques as well. Editing: -I appreciate that you have a theme to this piece which makes the product feel more cohesive. -The pacing is slow, but I think this fits with the stillness of the piece

Positives: I liked the music and editing. The camera work was good.

Improvements: Should improve on the visual story telling. The concept was good but needed a little more on the execution.

Positives: -Sweet bubbles dudes! -There's a nice color palette throughout. Pops of color occasionally against the same white/brown background. That felt intentional and consistent. -There were some really nice thoughtful compositions throughout. The shot of the highway bridge was particularly nice.

Improvements: -I know it's just a montage of your city, but there could still be more of a point of view to the images. The music is guiding my perception more than your images. If you wanted to give us more of a dreamlike feeling you could've done more with the editing and shot choices to build in weird patterns with either your pacing or your composition. -You're hinting at this relationship between the nature and the urban elements that disrupt it. I would've explored that further and looked for examples in your town where that idea was conveyed more directly.

Positives: The bubbles were a nice touch. The composition of each shot were nicely composed.

Improvements: The background music seemed a little to melodic but it was okay. I would have liked to have seen something that you controlled the lighting.
