Entry Description

School has always been hailed as a safe place. Many violent events have threatened to upend this feeling of security. The violence must end.

Recent Teacher Comments

• 3/8 11:57 am - Nice visuals. Good use of chroma key. Text at beginning hard to read. Need more of a stroke on it, or something, to make it pop out more and not blend in with the video. Need punctuation so the viewer knows where the second sentence/fact starts. I spent extra time figuring it out. Good timing of gun shot plus it is really impactful.

Judge 1

Positives: I like the testimonials. I also like the use of the statistics.

Improvements: Fill up the time with the testimonials. There was a long segment that was just time-lapse video with nothing being said. I think I would have had all the kids read the same lines and dissolve between each of the kids in the middle of the lines (I think you did this once). I would have the final line "I go to school to be safe" completely separate from all the others with nothing in the back round and just an extreme close up of the face of the kid giving the line.

Positives: This is visually very interesting with time-lapse and chroma key. Your slow zooms also add drama.

Improvements: Some music or scoring / sound-design would help. Also, would be cool if the last student emerged from the time-lapse as it changed to normal speed. Or perhaps the speed could increase from the beginning to the end and then come to an abrupt halt on the word "safe." The look is cool, but doesn't tie in to the theme directly.
