4/18 10:16 am - Video clearly demonstrated the process involved in seeding grass. The framing of the shots used was great, but I would have liked to see a larger variance in the camera angles. The music was a bit too much and the popping sound effect during titles was a little distracting. Titles needed work and better placement.
3/12 10:29 am - Music does not seem to quite fit the content of the video. Seems random (though it is pleasant). I like the fact that you got the same spot after so many weeks! Might help to have narration. A few typos in the graphics. Good trying to mix up the shots and keep the camera moving for visual interest. Title cards at times hard to read—too quick, etc.
3/8 11:32 am - what works:
good concept of a title for ongoing show, but not fully realized; impressive planning to return to film result of seeding; nice variety of shots and good close up detail shots.
what would make it better:
overall, more explanation of what is being done, step by step would be helpful. list of all materials needed; a voice over of instructions describing steps needed. music without lyrics would be less distracting; ending abrupt and incomplete.
3/5 3:53 pm - Keepers: Your demonstration is told very efficiently and the visuals work well to show each step in relative detail. The music is nice in that it isn't too repetitive and has a upbeat, demonstration-worthy vibe to it.
Improvement: The titling needs extensive work. As it is right now, they're hard to read in terms of the font, size, and color. Also, each card is not always on screen long enough to identify and read before it moves on to the next thing. This video really could have used voice over instead of titles. The voice over would had been more compelling and it would have allowed additional, in-depth instruction. I would have loved to have learned more about what each step does in the process and why it's important, particularly the use of peat moss. From a camera perspective, additional angles would have improved the production value and changed the eye level of the viewer. Having some pov and low-angle shots of the area and of the grass would have gone a long way.
