Entry Description

Every Friday in December HPHS staff members serve hot chocolate and donuts to the students before school. This piece was created to conform to the time restrictions of our morning video announcements.

• 4/10 10:57 am - Great job overall! I loved the B-Roll, the natural audio, and the interviews of both faculty and students. While short, the pace was nice and nothing felt rushed or left out. Your voice-over was especially nice and set up the story nicely along with providing a nice resolution at the end. I would encourage you, going forward, to extend your work to include more details, though I know sometimes time is going to cause you to leave out details you may have captured. Overall, great work!

Judge 1

Positives: Interesting topic and well produced.

Improvements: Lighting was inconsistent throughout the package. Some faculty interviews would've been nice.

Positives: Cute human interest piece. Nice use of humor to connect with audience nice variety of shots!

Improvements: I would have liked a few more interviews for backstory and information to tell a fuller story and to achieve a call to action at the end There is one broll shot that is really shaky-- sometimes it's better not to use a shot that is distracting if it doesn't work!

Positives: Wow! Fun piece! Well shot, good use of nats, great to have people in the background for interviews, nice tight shots of action. Edited really well -- good use of broll, nice mix of shots, great use of nat sound throughout. Loved the pause for nats on the whipped cream.

Improvements: Would have shot the sound without reporter in the shot – more over reporter’s shoulder instead of a straight-on two-shot. Instead of a fade-out at the end maybe another fun nat pop? Reporter sig out shouldn't be over black.
