  • 3/1 6:14 pm - Story: I get the premise of the film by the end of the trailer, but I think you could deliver it in a more enticing way. I’m thinking there could be strong visual way of showing what turns him into this man on a mission. I don’t get the point of the interaction with the girl at the school entrance. I think the tag at the end shows that you have good comedic instincts. Camera: Good variety of shots and camera movement. I’m not sure you use the opening drone shots to your best advantage. (The V.O. describes the school as scummy, and it looks beautiful. If you’re going for irony, I didn’t really get it.) You have some handheld that I think belong on a tripod, but overall, your camerawork is solid. Lighting: To my eye, you only use available light, but your stuff looks good. Certainly no red flags that I see. Sound: I think this is the area that needs the most work, but I think sound is hard to do well without good equipment. Having said that, your opening V.O. sounds thin and echoey. I think the music level is a bit low. The changing levels of background noise aren’t ideal. But like I say, sound is hard. Editing: I generally like your editing as well. You’ve got a good sense of letting us meet the character initially with longer shots and a slower pace. You jump into things with the quick cuts, slow down for some plot development, and then tighten up the pace at the end. And I think the closing tag works. Final thoughts: Maybe some kind of tag line at the end. I feel like it ends without much punch.
