A documentary that reveals what Show Choir is about and what it means to the students who participate in it.
Positives: The story is fun and feels as if much time was spent capturing footage which I know makes the editing process that much harder to keep on track. Overall, great job on telling the story in a way that is not just 'jazz hands" but an inclusive program. I know it is a daunting task to take so much footage, shot over a long period of time and make a cohesive story.
Improvements: the first sound clip cuts in from black - Audio levels are very inconsistent and the Broll in places needs natural sound. Consider spending some time in edit with the video turned off and listen to your sound and story. You will notice so many opportunities to adjust and fix sound/edits. Then move on to video coverage. In places, you used a video dissolve instead of a cut - consider using video cuts instead, you may be surprised on how effective that is .
Positives: Great use of BRoll footage. Nice, uplifting topic.
Improvements: Would like to have seen other perspectives- parents/teachers. The story could have been expanded beyond the current, maybe more how the program started.
Positives: Great balance of interview footage with footage showing the show choir in rehearsal and on stage. The film shows the most important benefit of Show Choir to all the participants, which is inclusion and supporting one another.
Improvements: Using straight cuts exclusively rather than incorporating dissolves would strengthen the film. The dissolves are used inconsistently and are not modern film grammar. The piano teacher’s story involving her little girl stands apart as very different from the rest of the interviews and is not as strong as the interviews with the participants.
Positives:
