  • 3/13 11:01 am - Good use of fire and stars to help create a mood. Also flashbacks to better days helped create a mood that synced up well with the mood of the song. But, use a tripod especially when you are far away from your subjects. (Football, baseball shots) Too much time with singer walking down a bike path. Choose more locations for the singer. Get a variety of shots, not just a shaky tracking shot.

  • 3/6 2:46 pm - The video has a personal message to it, and is touching. Technically, the video had some issues. One of the biggest issues is not using a tripod. The shots were so shaky we couldn't even see the singers mouth and if it lined up with the lyrics crroectly. All the shots were shaky, and the use of a tripod is a must. Be careful on outdoor shots that you do not over expose the shots- some of the baseball video is really over exposed. Not sure about adding a "fake" star skyline- you can tell it's really fake and it detracts from the video. Could you get a shot of the real stars? The story is based around a guy losing a friend- but that theme or storyline is not very clear. Only in two scenes do we actually see the friend "disappear" leaving the guy alone to remember his memories with his friend. That theme should have been played out much more- in every scene, so that we truly understood someone was no longer there. Did they other boy die? Move away? Where was he? Those questions should not be left unanswered. Camera angles and added variety could help convey some of those emotions as well. Make sure you're shooting the front of the actors, and using multiple camera angles in each scene to show emotions and better tell the story. The football scene for example- all we see is two guys way in the distance kicking a ball- which is ok to start- but get some shots up close of the guys laughing and having a good time so we can relate to those emotions. The singer was decent- but needs to get more into the song when the actual song's singer picks up the intensity. There was a time to be mellow, but the song picks up and the actor needs to portray that better to "sell" that he is singing.
